A Range of Dispute Resolution Achievements and Experience

Larry Glassmann has successfully settled thousands of cases, individually and in groupings, involving hundreds of millions of dollars. He has achieved this string of laudatory outcomes by thoroughly analyzing every aspect of the dispute, creating case-specific ADR techniques, and utilizing a unique set of resolution skills accumulated over decades of varied transactions. In addition to his practical expertise in resolving complex cases, Larry has honed his resolution concepts by teaching ADR and Negotiation courses at law schools and legal seminars around the world, as well as conducting mediations as a court appointed mediator.

Amidst a varied legal career as in-house and outside counsel, Larry most recently served as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Duramed Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (subsequently merged with Barr Laboratories). As General Counsel, Larry attained numerous litigation and dispute resolution triumphs in diverse areas including intellectual property, antitrust, commercial contracts and products liability.

Prior to his position at Duramed, Larry spent seven years with Aventis Pharmaceuticals and its predecessor companies (Hoechst Marion Roussel and Marion Merrell Dow) in increasingly responsible litigation positions, culminating with the position of Vice President and Head of Global Litigation.

Larry began his legal career over 20 years ago as a trial lawyer with the largest law firm in Cincinnati. There, he won numerous jury verdicts for plaintiffs and defendants. Larry also drafted briefs and presented oral arguments resulting in victories before state and federal appellate courts.

Larry earned his J.D. degree with Honors from Ohio State University College of Law and his B.A. in Communications, Summa Cum Laude and with High Honors from the University of Cincinnati. He has continued his education at the Harvard Law School by attending a series of workshops on negotiation, advanced negotiation, mass tort litigation and advanced mediation.

By innovatively settling complex matters early in the litigation process, Larry has saved his clients many millions of dollars in attorneys' fees, lost time, and potentially debilitating adverse verdicts. Indeed, to the delight of his clients, Larry has settled hundreds of cases without so much as a document being produced or a single deposition being taken. His successful negotiations include those involving the largest recall in FDA history, international patent and commercial litigation alleging more than $1 billion in damages, a failed merger with a Fortune 500 company and thousands of products liability mass tort cases alleging injuries from birth defects to deaths.

Larry has also served on and chaired a number of committees of the American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and Cincinnati Bar Association.
